The Ashburn Institute Transnational Law Journal invites submission of unsolicited manuscripts. All citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005).

Post JD, PhD and foreign equivalents should submit manuscripts, double-spaced with one-inch margins, as an e-mail attachment (in Microsoft Word format) to articles@aitlj.org. JD, PhD and foreign equivalent candidates should submit manuscripts, double-spaced with one-inch margins as an e-mail attachment (in Microsoft Word format) to notes@aitlj.org.

Please include:

-One copy of the manuscript, double spaced, with one-inch margins;

-Abstract of the manuscript;

-Curriculum vitae for the author(s);

-Contact information for the fall, spring, and summer, including a telephone number, e-mail address, and fax number.

 

Types of Articles

The Ashburn Institute Transnational Law Journal encourages researched, high quality notes and articles in all areas relating to transnational law and policy, including, but not limited to:

 

1) Humanitarian Law

2) Human Rights Law

3) Comparative Law

4) Law of the Sea

5) Trade Law/International Business Law

6) International Criminal Law

 

Please note, we do not accept submissions relating to foreign domestic law.

More specifically, the Ashburn Institute Transnational Law Journal encourages more than simple academic research, but innovative thought in our subject areas. In other words, though analytical research and philosophical pieces are welcome, greater consideration will be given to papers on what could or should be, in the areas of international law, relations and policy.

 

Style

Though articles must maintain integrity and attention to detail, we encourage concise, tightly written articles. We encourage readability. In order to aid us in putting your words into action, these articles should be understandable to non-lawyer, policy-makers in the above areas.

 

Length

Though we reserve the right to make exceptions for outstanding submissions, Notes should be between 3500 and 8000 words not including footnotes (approximately 15-30 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins). Articles should be between 4500 and 10,000 words not including footnotes (approximately 20-40 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins).

 

Eligibility

We will consider articles from Juris Doctorates and candidates (as well as JD equivalent degrees and candidates outside of the Unites States), PhDs and candidates.
